Spellsword, huh? She sounds amazing. :D I'd love to see how that works in combat.

@Kelgrinn Krusader: Easy. You sling a spell and swing a sword. :p

Too Simple ( Reply )

@Deonis: If it were that simple, anyone who knew even an ounce of magic and carried a sword could be called a Spellsword. I'm sure it's a little bit more complicated than that. That's why it sounds interesting to me. 'Cause without anymore information, the closest thing I can compare this to would be a Sword Mage from D&D. And I know they are fun to use.

Nice page!
Wow!Now I can see she's a japanese high-schooler type of ninja.
I though she was a sound mage to be able to wake him up.Your alternative is nore amusing and slightly perverted.
Spellsword sounds like a costumable version of Knight mage of FF5 except that it probably has some special attack.

Is this comic based on a computer RPG? If yes, then which one? If no, I hope you can make the game some day so that we can play through this world.

@dracone: A very very long time ago, GS said that this idea was pulled from many things (One of them was Mabinogi, cuz I ended up asking the same question as you). Other than that, I believe he had said it was his creation.

Would a mercenary spellsword be a Sellspellsword?

Because I can I am going to assume the class is actually pronounced 'spells-word' and that they actually are living spell checks.

@Raspberl: Funny pun but it's spell-sword. You can because she is holding a glowing sword. I get the feeling that a spellsword enchants their blade with effects and deals melee damage along side the tanks in the front/middle.

It's not like a living spell check class couldn't use swords.

It could be that in their case... the pen IS the sword.

And by spell check, it's magic spells, and and its the not inspecting type of checking.

More seriously, though, they're likely just sword based magic users.

That's a weird place to keep a sword...
Is there an especific reason for her to keep it there?

@edgeblade: actually spellsword is a hybrid class, forgive me if I'm wrong because I am referencing Dungeons and Dragons, the way I understand it a a spellsword is Mage/Warrior hybrid. I've heard D&D paladins described as Priest/Warrior hybrids and Duskblades described as Warlock/Warrior hybrids. Actually I'd like to see some of those in the comic now.
